you can always use a braid. l don’t believe they have a memory but l stopped using them, myself.
most top quality monos have somewhat less memory but it is a built-in factor of nylon monofilaments.
some co-polymers like silver thread also have less memory. silver thread is a good line. smaller diameter, too.
try a conventional reel once. there are a number of bass sized baitcasters that have a click button so you can leave the reel in freespool and listen for the bite.
l use a big S/W outfit for cats with a newell 330 reel and 30lb mono.

P-line is the best line on the market by far. I would reccomend buying the flouroclear. It’s called flouroclear, I don’t mean flourocarbon. They have excellent flourocarbon as well. All their lines are extremely low in memory and coated with flourcarbon so it’s invisible under water. They have 15 pound line too. It’s about 30% thinner than any other brand so you could get away with 17 if you wanted to, especially with carp and catfish. I fish in bass tournaments and rarely break off with P-line and never have any problems with it. Stren is probably the worst line on the market, don’t fall for advertisement, the problem with companies today are that they spend too much money on advertisement and not enough on making a good product. The p-line flouroclear is $8.99 for 300 yards.
