i would use no less than 10lb line.be sure and get a good quality line that will not fray into fishing in the rocks.

I prefer mirror lures over Rapalas try silver or the red nosed ones.
Use atleast 15 pound test and you can even use a steel leader if there are sharks in the area

i like to use plastic jigs instead of rapalas. get one that has a curly tail that flutters when you retrieve it.

Go for the Rapala X-Rap. The large one…in a ‘Clown’ pattern.
Fishing from the surf around rocks, I recommend at least 30lb test. Look into PowerPro. It is extremely abrasion resistant, which is needed when fishing around rocks.
